My Story
Harper is a daughter, a person, and a young individual navigating mental health challenges with courage. Like so many families, we sought help during a vulnerable time, trusting that the system in place was designed to protect, support, and heal.
What we experienced instead was confusing, frightening, and at times, deeply unjust.
Harper was hospitalized against her will under laws that are difficult for families to fully understand, within a system that can prioritize liability and insurance over individualized care. Decisions were made quickly, with little transparency, leaving us feeling powerless and unheard during one of the most critical moments of her life.
This website exists to share Harper’s story—not just to be heard, but to help others understand that they are not alone.
We are here to:
-
Raise awareness about involuntary mental health hospitalization and the laws surrounding it
-
Support families who find themselves navigating similar situations
-
Shine a light on gaps in the system that can lead to harm instead of healing
-
Encourage transparency, accountability, and change
This is not just about one experience. It is about a system that many enter without clear guidance, and leave with more questions than answers.
Our hope is that by sharing this journey, we can help other families feel less alone, more informed, and better prepared to advocate for their loved ones.
Harper’s story matters. And so do the stories of so many others.
If you are here because you are going through something similar, we see you.
You are not alone.
